Date: Four Sundays before Christmas

Description: Advent is a season of anticipation as we reflect on what it would’ve been like to await the coming of the Messiah - the birth of Christ. We’ll follow the Advent Calendar with four focuses: Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love, in that order. Each of our services will have advent wreath candle lighting liturgies and meaningful worship. This year has a unique twist in that we’ll be viewing Advent through the lens of exiles seeking to bless the city:
We don’t curse Babylon, we bless it. God calls His people to serve, build, and seek the good of the city, even when that city doesn’t reflect His values. We’re not thinking: How can I use Babylon for my benefit? To the great surprise of Babylon, we’re asking: How can I benefit them? In our backyards, while Babylon sleeps, we’ll be planting mini Edens, and the closer our neighbors get, the more they’ll find Shalom.
